New Tricks and Such

Only 2 weeks left until summer vacation! I can't wait to be done. My class is a bit of a challenge, and I found it hard to step into a teaching job so late in the year. I'm still uncertain what next year will bring in terms of an assignment because I was laid off yet AGAIN (3rd year and counting), but I have been approved for my 0.2 leave of absence which guarantees me a 4 day a week job next year.

Lexi is walking and talking up a storm these days. As of the first week of June, she weighs in at 19 pounds, 1 ounce, and 73cm tall. She's still in her infant car seat, but we'll be looking at moving her into a convertible (the Britax Marathon) towards the end of the summer. I discovered just this morning that she is cutting tooth #9 on her lower left side. She has been sleeping pretty well since I went back to work and loves spending time with her Oma.

New words include "duce" for juice and "mmmm" when she likes her food (OK, not REALLY a word, but communication none the less). She can point to all the animal and object stencils that decorate her change table area (I'm trying to get this on video) and LOVES going outside. We took her swimming again today and she seems to really enjoy the water. She can get off the couch by herself and for the most part sleeps through the night.

I'm really looking forward to the adventures that this summer will bring. Now that she's down to 1 nap a day, we should be able to get out more and enjoy what Vancouver has to offer. Stay tuned, once I'm off work, I should be able to post more often...
